For PENTAX Spotmatic SP, I tried to open a battery cover, but it was stucked and I could not open it for new baterry replacement.
I have used shock driver. This was long used for my motorcycle hobby. But it failed since shape does not fit well.
I found good tool, coin-shaped screwdriver and I could open the cover again!
I will introduce how to open the cover. This is for PENTAX SPOTMATIC case but it may be applicable to similar old camera.
- Situation
I tried to open the cap by coin but it was so hard, I could not open it.
2. Put oil for 3 to 4 hours.
Maybe friction of the cap is so big, so I put oil around the cap trying to permiate into the edge of cap for better rotation.
I left the camera in this position a night to let the oil permiating into the cap by gravity.
3. Coin-shaped screwdriver
Here is a coin-shaped screwdriver. The tip is like coin. So I can have right access and torque to open the cover!
4. Opening the cover
With some good hand force, I could open the cover easily. I hope you can open the cover as well.
